Volvo XC90 Competitive Comparison

How Does the Volvo XC90 Compare to the Competition?

When you’re trying to find the best, it can be helpful to compare luxury SUVs. This way you can see what each model’s advantages are over the competition. At Autobahn Volvo Cars, we offer the Volvo XC90 because we believe it really is the best luxury SUV out there, so we thought we’d tell you why that is by comparing it against the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 and Lexus RX350.

The 2021 Volvo XC90 Versus the 2021 Audi Q7

When you’re driving down winding roads at night, you want to see anything that might get in your way or be a danger to you. In most traditional cars, the Audi Q7 included, you’ll be able to see directly ahead of your car as your lights shine into the dark and not on the road as your round a bend. The Volvo XC90 has Active Bending Lights, which turn with the steering wheel to improve visibility.

The Q7 also lacks the ability to start your car from a distance. This is a feature you’ll miss, since it allows you to pre-climatize your luxury SUV before you even step out the door. Your car doesn’t have to feel like an oven after a long day in the sun around Haltom City, TX, and thankfully the Volvo XC90 has this feature through its Volvo on Call app, along with plenty of other useful features.

The 2021 Volvo XC90 Versus the 2021 BMW X5

One of the first things DFW drivers notice about the X5 is that it has a much higher starting MSRP than the XC90. You would expect this to result in a feature-rich experience, but the BMW X5 has many of the features that are standard on the Volvo XC90 as optional addons. If you want a luxury SUV with as much to offer as the XC90, you’ll have to pay quite a bit more on the X5.

There is something you can’t pay extra for on the X5: seating. It comes with room for five to sit comfortably, but if you need more seating, you’re out of luck. The Volvo XC90 has seven seats standard, allowing you to easily fit the whole family in it.

The 2021 Volvo XC90 Versus the 2021 Mercedes GLE 350

Owning a luxury SUV is an amazing experience, but the up-front cost is just one of the costs of ownership. For the best experience with any luxury vehicle, you’ll want to make sure it’s well-maintained. If you get a GLE 350, this means paying for service regularly, but with an XC90, you don’t have to worry about that. The Volvo XC90 comes with three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary, factory-scheduled maintenance.

Another cost of ownership is gas. The Volvo XC90 already gets terrific gas mileage for an SUV, but you can also choose the Volvo XC90 Recharge for a plug-in hybrid version of this amazing luxury SUV and get even better mileage around Keller, TX. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, which has no hybrid option, plug-in or not.

The 2021 Volvo XC90 Versus the 2021 Lexus RX350

Luxury SUVs are all about comfort, so it’s no surprise they have amazing climate control systems. The RX350 has a dual-zone automatic climate control system in place to provide the driver and front passenger with precise control over their climate. This leaves the rear seats high and dry unless you also get the three-zone climate control available on the higher trims. The Volvo XC90 comes with a four-zone automatic climate control system standard, which gives the rear seats dual-zone control.

Dallas Fort Worth Drivers Can See the Difference

While all of these luxury SUVs are excellent, the Volvo XC90 stands above the rest as a prime example of Scandinavian luxury. With space for the whole family and the safety features to keep them secure, the XC90 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a full-size luxury SUV.
