Introducing the Polestar 2 Launch Edition, an all-electric performance sedan from Polestar, Volvo Cars’ subsidiary focused on delivering high-performance all-electric vehicles.

For a long time, Polestar was known as the official Volvo racing team and Volvo Cars’ performance division, similar to the one-letter performance divisions of our fellow competition. Today Polestar still exists as Volvo’s performance arm, offering Polestar improvements on select cars from Volvo’s lineup. Still, now Polestar is also a standalone brand focusing on high-performance electric vehicles.

The Polestar 2 is Polestar’s first all-electric vehicle(the Polestar 1 is a PHEV), and it shares much of Volvo’s technology. It is based on the Volvo Concept 40.2, a small sedan built around Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture. That architecture(CMA) and Concept 40.1 underpins the Volvo XC40 and the C40 Recharge, so in many ways, the Polestar 2 is the sister car to the XC40 and C40 Recharge.

The Polestar 2 Launch Edition is powered by two electric motors, one up front and one back, producing about 201hp and 243 lb-ft of torque for a combined 402hp and 487 lb-ft of torque. This dual-motor setup also makes the Polestart 2 all-wheel-drive with a 0-60 of 4.2 seconds and an EPA-estimated range of 233 miles.
